The Petroleum Agency of South Africa (PASA) has proposed a deep water geophysical survey of the continental shelf of South Africa. They have appointed CCA Environmental to undertake the Environmental Assessment of the proposed project.

One of the goals of the proposed project, which is scheduled to run from October to December 2007, is to obtain regional geological and geophysical data in the unexplored deeper water frontiers.

The survey, which proposes to collect data via single channel reflection seismics; Ocean Bottom Seimographs; and multibeam echosounder bathymetry profiles (amongst others), comprises approximately 10 000km of survey track - some 65% of which is located further offshore than the 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone.
