The City of Cape Town's Environmental Resource Management and Sport and Recreation Departments have, together with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), launched a programme called "Don't mess with South African Beaches". Through this venture, they will be hosting an education program for schools at the City's Blue Flag and pilot Blue Flag beaches from 25th to 28th February and 3rd to 6th March 2008.

The program which is known as the Blue Flag Beach Environmental Education Program forms a part of the City's Youth Environmental School (YES) Program. It will take place on Cape Town's three Blue Flag status beaches namely Bikini Beach near Gordon's Bay, Mnandi Beach and Clifton 4th Beach on the Atlantic Seaboard, as well as at the pilot Blue Flag Beaches namely Fish Hoek, Strandfontein, Muizenberg, Big Bay and Camps Bay.
