Crew member dies on SA Agulhas

The Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism and Smit Amandla Marine have announced in a joint media statement that one of the crew members of the Antarctic supply vessel, SA Agulhas, has died.

Edward Robert Hulley (22), who served as an Ordinary Seaman on the SA Agulhas, lost his life in a non-work related incident en route to Tristan da Cunha Island.

The incident is under invesigation by the South Africa Police Services who have already begun preparations from Cape Town.

The vessel is expected to arrive in Cape Town in mid-October.
