Everton September, the Vice-President of state-owned Petroleum, Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (PetroSA) said that the corporation is to spend approximately $650-million to help extend its gas reserves over the next two years. He said that PetroSA is in discussions with Eskom to supply gas as they seek to compensate for a power shortage.

September further stated that the eight new projects, which include an oil well and two gas wells located in the vicinity of Mossel Bay would assist PetroSA to maintain the 36 000 barrels per day production to 2020. The first gas from these projects is expected to be piped in mid-2010.
