According to Mozambique Petroleum Company (Petromoc) CEO, Casimiro Francisco, construction on a 450km fuel pipeline between Maputo, Mozambique and Kendal, South Africa has been scheduled to commence in June 2008.

The construction of the pipeline will take approximately one and a half years at a cost of about $517-million. It is planned to use the existing depot at Matola Harbour and to connect the pipeline to Kendal via Nelspruit.

Once completed the pipeline will carry 3.5-million litres of fuel per year and is expected to cover about 25% of the fuel requirements for Gauteng and Mpumalanga.
